Observations

  • What are your top ten favorite movies?

    1. “Casablanca.” I love every line and every scene in this movie—it was almost cinematic perfection.
    2. “The Godfather.” The one and only. Some argue the second one was even better—I still favor the original.
    3. “Boyz in the Hood.” This movie was as heart-warming as it was heart-breaking.
    4. “Affliction.” This movie was as dark and disturbing as they come, and also one of Nick Nolte’s most noteworthy performances, I think.
    5. “Three Days of the Condor.” This movie continues to stand the test of time, and is as relevant today as ever.
    6. “The Untouchables.” I can watch this movie over and over and never get tired of it. Outstanding performances by the entire cast.
    7. “Thirteen Days.” I can watch this one over and over, too—I must be a real Kevin Costner fan without even realizing it.
    8. “A Few Good Men.” A few great performances here as well—Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson are in tip-top form in this gem from Rob Reiner.
    9. “On Golden Pond.” Henry Fonda saved his best for last.
    10. “Hamburger Hill.” One of my favorite and most underrated Vietnam War flicks, I think.

  • What do you love about where you live?

Turtle Bay is quiet at night—good sleeping conditions. I can also get pretty much anything I want within a five-block radius of my building. I’m also very close to Grand Central, which is central to everything else in the city.

  • What do you enjoy most about writing?

It’s therapeutic. Just writing right now is therapeutic. It gives you a chance to air out your inner-most demons—though you can still do it with a sense of humor. And if someone else happens to read it, hopefully it will resonate with them.

  • What positive emotion do you feel most often?

I would say pride—in my athletic prowess on the playing field, as evidenced in sports like tennis and softball, and in my artistic aptitude, as evidenced in my acting, improv, stand-up, poetry writing and singing endeavors.

  • How do you plan your goals?

I don’t plan my goals anymore—my goal is not to plan anymore.

  • What is a word you feel that too many people use?

Basically. There’s nothing basic about it—either it is or it isn’t.

  • What brings you peace?

Music therapy—it’s filtered music that works on your autonomic nervous system to reduce your sensitivity to certain sounds, and tone down your fight-or-flight response to situations.

Beyond that, doing laundry always puts me at ease with everything—perhaps my next job should be at a laundromat. 😎

  • Excuse me, sir, could you tell me the way to limbo

Sure, just keep going the way you’re going—you can’t miss it

    Thanks—I appreciate it!
